God speed to both Farrah and Michael. I grew up wartching both of these unique people The world has lost alot this week with the death of Ed McMahon and now
Farrah and Michael. It really makes you realize that you need to make sure that those that you love know that and to live each day fully.

This is, indeed, a tragic day in the entertainment business. I have to say, though, that Farrah's death has been expected for a while, and now,
thankfully, she is at rest and is no longer suffering. I was a teenager when "Charlie's Angels" was on TV and I remember seeing the poster of
her in the red swimsuit in the store one day. From that day forward I thought she was the most beautiful woman I'd ever seen. I wanted my hair to be just
like hers and spent hours during summer vacation trying to get it "just right". She will be greatly missed and my thoughts and prayers go out to her
family, especially Ryan O'Neal who fought the fight with her to the end. For those of you interested, Dateline tonight is going to show "The Death Of
An Angel" at 10 p.m. EST. Check your local listings for the channel in your area.
I am still in shock over Michael Jackson. I just can't believe it. Like him or loathe him, he was the undisputed King Of Pop, and how many of us here on the forum used to turn our Sony Walkman's up full-blast in 1982 when "Thriller", "Billy Jean" or "Beat It" would come over the airways? Remember listening to Casey Kasem's "American Top 40" on Sunday afternoon and hearing, for weeks at a time, a Michael Jackson song in the #1 spot? Michael Jackson, to me, optimized some of the happiest years of my life -- my late teens and early 20s when life was simple and carefree...MTV was new and actually showed VIDEOS...'big hair' and shoulder pads were all the rage...gas was still under $1 a gallon...and we went to the RECORD STORE to get our music and it came on BIG, BLACK VINYL DISCS!!! I hope that he can now find the peace in death that he couldn't find in life.

I'm very saddened to find out about Michaels death!!! i was at work when I heard. i was in shock...and frankly I still am!!! I cried driving home listening
to different radio stations playing his music and talking about him! Today was a horrible day for the entertainment industry...not to mention the week
hasn't been good with the lose of Ed earlier in the week! All their families and friends are in my thoughts and prayers!

I'm slightly annoyed with the fact that those who didn't like him are being nasty about it. I don't know, maybe I'm just a little touchy
because I grew up with the man and he was an icon.
If Smoke can't do it, then Rowdy sure can!!!

You would think in death that people would be nicer, wouldn't you Patti? Unfortunately, there are those people in this world who are basically cruel
and will continue to bring up the parts of his life that are less than stellar. He really should be remembered for his music and his talent and he was a very,
very talented man. I can remember when he first sang the song "Ben" and how I thought he was the most adorable child in the whole world.

When you have a great talent like Michael Jackson did, there's sacrifice that comes with it. He broke the color-barrier with his music, and shared his
amazing talent with the whole world at the cost of his childhood and, ultimately I think, his sanity. Today's singers, all of them, owe him a tremendous
debt, because they wouldn't be here today if it had not been for him. I am one the MTV generation, and I remember waiting impatiently for the video
"Thriller" to premier, and when it did, I was in shock at just how good it was and at how far Michael Jackson had come from his early days. Whether
or not he did the things he was accused of, I'm sure we'll find out in the coming days (because that's the kind of society we live in), but today
I'll remember what an awesome talent he was and how much we'll miss his musical contributions in the future.

He had the most unique dance moves that I have ever seen - one of a kind. Elvis swang his hips and Michael Jackson did the moonwalk. Truly a shocker to lose
such a huge celebrity.
I had his barbie doll when I was young. One had the black leather outfit and the other one had the red leather outfit with the microphone. Both had the white gloves. |

I just found out where he got the high pants, white socks, loafers look that he had in the 80's. He was a big fan of Vincent Minelli's movies, one of
which was "An American in Paris" with Gene Kelly. Per Liza Minelli, MJ used to study Gene Kelly's and Fred Astair's dance moves, and
that's what influenced his own dancing and his own fashion sense at that time. Go figure.....

i remember watching the movie "Thriller" I was about 5 or 6 when it came out and it scared the crap out of me. I enjoyed his 80's music the most,
being a child of the 80's. I guess my mom felt this way when Elvis died (This happened the year before I was born). May he rest in peace now.

Vicky, I think you put it best. I'm still so surprised at his passing! And only at 50! Its really sad...he was getting set to do a comeback tour this
summer, and it would have been nice if he could've done so and try to get his life back on track, he had suffered so many setbacks in recent years. I feel
really bad for his kids too, I hear that he was a very devoted father. I was a big fan of MJ when I was a kid, and still have the Thriller LP, and even
remember the lyrics to many of his songs. When I grew up, my music tastes changed and Michael started getting into his "oddities"--so I got away from
listening to him, but man, he was still quite the influential performer and will be missed greatly. Still a bit shocking...wow....

I got the word yesterday at work also and immediately had to get online to find out if it was true. I just can't believe that he's gone. Granted he
hasn't been in the media for all the right reasons lately, but he was a music genius. The man was and always will be one of the better entertainers this
world has seen. First Ed McMahon, then Farrah Fawcett and Michael Jackson all within 4 days - what a tragedy.
