Now, the words methamphetamine have been used before and continued to be used today and the Adderal that he said he was taking is a methamphetamine but them using the words "crystal meth" today somehow makes this so scary. Ricky Craven (whom I admire a great deal) was on the show and Mike Massaro asked him his feelings and Ricky was clearly upset. He said a great deal but his main point was that it is so unfair to the other 42 drivers out there on the track with you that you could be under the influence of drugs. They asked NASCAR and Jeremy and/or his attorney to comment and NASCAR declined and they said they never heard from Jeremy or his attorney. Guys, this is a mess. I'm not sure that Jeremy Mayfield will ever be able to drive again in NASCAR even if he is cleared of these charges. It would just be human nature for the other guys to always wonder if he was alright. ~MARGIE~ love the man who dresses in red and looks that hot!!!!!

I will say this if you check out the site the faces of meth and look at the before and after pics of people you can see clearly what it does to them. I never really paid alot of attention to Mayfield but then again when I did see him he didn't look like someone you would suspect of doing " crank". There would have been diffenite signs that he was on something. Also, I know of other things that come back as a possitive for drugs. Example: The motel I work at has Lemon poppy seed backery muffins on their continental breakfast in the morning, it will come back as a positive for Opieum, and I heard the sesame seeds on Mcdonald"s Big MACS come back as a positive on drug tests but I'm not sure about that one. Now I'm not saying Mayfield didn't do anything wrong, because not disclosing what his prescription was his own fault and no one else's.

It's stupid enough to take drugs in the first place, and it's really, really damn stupid to be driving a car while on drugs, but it's INCREDIBLY, seriously, over-the-line, not-EVEN-funny stupid to be taking drugs and driving a car that is going around 200 mph and is in constant close contact with 42 other cars. Makes me want to scream in his face, "WHAT WERE YOU THINKING?!?!?!"

Also...this past weekend one of Jeremy's houses in Mooresville was auctioned off. It was a beautiful home and it went to the highest bidder. I do not know what the final selling bid was, though. This was not a house he lived in full-time and is not his primary residence. However, it's an indication that he is trying to garner funds to live on and to fight this thing, since, obviously, loosing his job means loosing his income. Three people did not make the race and J.J. Yeley was not one of the three drivers listed. So, I wonder with what Vicky just posted that maybe he just doesn't have the money to try and continue now. Why can't we get this settled? Why must there be so many delays in this process? If I am Jeremy Mayfield and I know that I am right then by golly, am I not entitled to a speedy court date. It seems I have heard that on Law and Order sometime over the many years I have watched that show. As I said earlier, the longer this drags on the more Jeremy's name is dragged through the mud and even if he is cleared of all wrong doing, can those other drivers ever truly trust him again? When the story first broke back in May it all seemed kind of weird to me. Why didn't Jeremy just say from the beginning what meds he was on? I have ADD, diagnosed by a doctor and was on Adderall for a brief period of time. I knew day one that this drug was an amphetamine. When I was sent for pre-employment drug testing I took the bottle with me and informed the tester what I was taking. The drug showed up in my test as an amphetamine but since the testing facility knew ahead of time what I was taking, they passed me and I was able to start work. I'm hoping Jeremy wasn't dumb enough to use crystal meth or any other form of meth and I certainly hope he wasn't abusing a drug that is used to treat people that legitimately have a need for Adderall. The reason Jeremy or NASCAR hasn't commented on this recent development is due to the gag order issued by the courts. Davina Here kitty kitty kitty......

He is still going to have his day in court & it will be interesting to see what the judge or jury decides about the same lab performing both tests on him. Wasn't Mayfield given the same list of restricted medications as all of the other drivers & owners? I would imagine that any perscription medication that contains methamphetamine was included on the list. Even if the medication was prescribed, it can alter a persons alertness. I am waiting to see what the outcome of the court date brings. Lori Texas

I dont trust the reports as nothing was allowed to be released because of the gag order. I dont see how they confirmed their story and I will still wait and see what happens after this finally goes to court. Its been delayed because NASCAR asked to have the case moved to federal court rather than state court since the infractions didnt actually happen in North Carolina and felt that since it occured in a number of different states, that makes it a federal case. If this report that came out today is really not that valid, the ESPN guys just made Mayfields reputation far worse than anything we have seen to date. If its fake or partially incorrect, I would suggest Mayfield sue for deformation of character. I am more hesitant now than ever to believe anything and am waiting to see any real proof at all.

Even if this was a prescribed med. it could cause an unsafe driving condition, but he should be given a chance with the help of the Nascar doctors and officials to find an effective and safe substitute for his problem. But I agree with alot of others that he should have stepped forward before the test and told them what he was taking and why and maybe this all could have been avoided.

I think right now the fact that Jeremy didn't reveal his prescription is a mute point. The thing that should be focused on now is weather the meth was from his prescription or if he took it illegally. I think we should also be careful about being judge and jury and crucifying this man before everything is out in the open. I just hope NASCAR and yes in my opinion it is them, doesn't drag this thing out. Go to court, present both sides and let it be over. Kate

I have not followed Mayfield enough to judge him and imo Nascar cannot be trusted. (that whole good old boys club). The fact that information was stated on Nascar.now and there is a gag order in place makes me suspect the whole meth rumor.

Test was done before Richmond, or during Richmond track, thats in Virginia. He found the results at Darlington after failing to qualify and tested again. Darlington is South Carolina, so yes it was over many states, neither of the tracks listed were in North Carolina where the lawsuit by Mayfield was filed. Numerous drivers, including Ryan and Harvick have said that they were given a list of the drugs deemed illegal by NASCAR prior to signing anything. They were made aware of the rules and regulations. They have also said they can at any time call the physicians that work for NASCAR and talk to them about any drugs they might want to take, prescribed by non-NASCAR physicians, or any OTC drugs. I fail to see where Mayfield has much of a claim. The only people not getting this list is the public. I dont understand the reasoning why NASCAR doesnt make the list public but as long as the persons involved, the ones that are getting tested, have access to it, its not that big of a deal. I have also heard praise for Mayfield for keeping his condition private. That doesnt make sense, telling the NASCAR heads up, the adminstrators of the drug testing and any NASCAR physician is not making his ADHD condition public, its doing the right thing and the smart thing to notify them. Every other sport lists Adderall as an illegal drug because of its ease of misuse and every other sport will make exceptions when its a true medical reason. It just seems to me, and Margie has stated this already, Mayfields image is destroyed. I dont see how after todays edition of NASCAR Now he can really rebuild it.

I mean yes, if Jeremy was taking a drug for a legit problem then he should have informed Nascar. That was his own mistake. But after everything today i'm not sure what to believe. I know some ADHD drugs can show as a form of meth, but then again who knows if he was actually using meth and not an ADHD drug. I haven't followed Jeremy much, i don't know much about him, I like him though. He doesn't look like someone that would use an illegal drug, but then again, there are alot of people that don't give that impression and they are addicts. He image is ruined and has been since the allogations came out. He's going to have a hard road ahead of him regardless of what a judge or jury says. The publics view of him will be all that matters in end. I hope for his sake he just takes the steps that Nascar has already offered him and work his way back in, but something tells me, if he auctioned off a home that isn't going to happen. He's going to fight tooth and nail against Nascar which is probably going to leave him broke and jobless.

Keep in mind I am no expert, am just speaking from experience and what my doctor has told me. If you truly have ADD, taking Adderall or any other ADD medication will not alter you in anyway except to slow your brain down. Having ADD is like your brain is a TV and someone else has the remote. Your thoughts hopscotch all over the place, you are easily distracted and sometimes hyperactive. The medication controls all of that by speeding up the pump that controls the chemicals in your brain that control thoughts, etc. If you do not have ADD and take medication for it, it makes you high and can alter you in other ways. College students often take it to keep them awake during exam weeks, it is also abused because it is speed. There are some ADD medications that do not have amphetamines in them. Sorry if that was lengthy and know it all-ish but this comes from personal experience and may or may not explain anything about the drug and the condition it is used for. He just does not fit the description of a meth user to me. If he is guilty of these charges, then he should be punished to the max. If he is innocent, then I feel really sorry for Nascar and anyone else involved. His life as he knows it is ruined, whether he is innocent or guilty and he will make them all pay dearly if he is innocent. *Friends are quiet angels who lift us to our feet when our wings have trouble remembering how to fly.*

Now, ESPN did some sleuthing on their own, talked to many doctors with the information we had from just the court proceedings and came to the conclusion it was crystal meth. That's just deduction on their part. No one leaked the info. But what got me reading the articles is that Jeremy did not disclose that he was on Adderall when he started taking it, which is part of the drug policy he signed. He was supposed to tell them. Then he was also taking Claritin, no biggie except he's on another prescription drug so who knows what the interaction is. The reality is, even if this was a false positive, he broke the rules. But we still don't know the amounts that were found to make them decide they weren't getting a false positive. In time this will hash itself out, but this was a can of worms Jeremy should have never opened. He should have just come out and said, yes I was on Adderall, it caused a positive result and I broke the rules by not telling Nascar about it and done what they asked to get reinstated. Then this probably wouldn't have gotten so bad. If Smoke can't do it, then Rowdy sure can!!!

I was on it for several years, it did a great job of treating the symptoms, I stopped taking it when I lost my health insurance and couldn't afford it anymore.
